CertaPro Painters, a residential and commercial painting company in Cockeysville, and serving all of Northern Baltimore County, was named among the Top 100 Minority Business Enterprises for Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and Washington for 2009.
The awards are presented annually by the Clarksville-based Center for Business Inclusion and Diversity.
Lorena Streb, 46, an immigrant from El Salvador and daughter of a Paraguayan diplomat, moved to the Washington area with her family in the early 1970s, and decided as an adult to stay in the United States.
In February 2007, she and her husband, Dave Streb, opened CertaPro Painters. The couple also operates Reel One Media, a marketing and communications firm. Lorena Streb is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art.
On April 10, the Strebs volunteered at the Painting Party at the soon-to-open Maryland Women's Heritage Museum and took part on Opening Day for the Orioles on April 9 featuring their mascot, Bristles.
