Franchises vs. Business Opportunities

by Eric Stites

Q: What has been the feedback on waste management consulting companies such as Environmental Waste Solutions? Do you think that it is a good opportunity?

Thanks, Idrees

Dear Idrees -

Thank you for your question. Environmental Waste Solutions (EWS) is not a registered franchise. EWS is a business opportunity. I won't go into all the differences between franchises and business opportunities right now, but in general, most of the business opportunity companies that I have run into over the years DO NOT deliver on their promises of helping you build a successful business. Whenever anyone I talk with is considering investing in a business opportunity, I strongly caution them. These companies are VERY high risk, and most offer very little (if any) reward.

In the case of Environmental Waste Solutions, I don't know anything about this company or the successes and/or failures of their affiliates. I can tell you that from a quick glance at their website I suspect that this company is just like the many other thousands of SHADY business opportunities out there. Whenever I see terms like "Earn a Six Figure Income" I know the company is NOT legit.

My advice... run away as fast as you can! If you are serious about investing in a real business with a proven track record, I would highly recommend any of the franchise companies that we have researched and found to have outstanding franchisee satisfaction. Best of luck in your business search!
