INTERIORS by Decorating Den Franchise Owner - Lauren Riddiough

by FBR

Name: Lauren Riddiough
Location: Leesburg, VA
Age: 25
# of Years Franchising: 2+
Previous Occupation: retail sales
Top Reason you chose your Franchise: I have always had a passion for decorating and wanted to be part of a business that has such great resources in the field. INTERIORS by Decorating Den has been a part of my family for 25 years so I have always known the potential success that this company has to offer.
Best part of being your own boss? I love the flexibility of owning my own business. I enjoy working during the hours that suit my schedule; I can achieve my business goals throughout the day as well as being able to still achieve personal duties as well. I am also my best motivator and set my own expectations where I know I am capable of making and exceeding them.
Worst part of being your own boss? I am not sure that I have any negative feelings about being my own boss. Time management is certainly crucial but not a negative in my opinion.
Craziest/most interesting thing that has happened to you as a franchise owner? I have not yet experienced anything ‘crazy’ but what has been interesting to me is the available success. I could not have truly understood how great it is to be in control of my own destiny and to experience the gratification of my hard work. It is an amazing feeling to know that I am building my own business from the ground up and that I am capable of such success.
Advice for prospective franchise buyers? I would advise being prepared for the hard work that it takes to be successful. In conjunction with that, having a passion for the field is vital so that the hard work does not feel as much like ‘work’.
What was the total length of time from when you started researching franchises to when you purchased?  My family has worked with INTERIORS by Decorating Den for the last 25 years and owned their own franchise for many of those years. Therefore, I have always been a believer in the franchise system.
