Interstate All Battery Center Franchise Owners Matt & Nancy Breen

by FBR

Name: Matt & Nancy Breen
Location: Ames, IA
# Of Years Franchising: 7 years
Previous Occupation: We have both been in sales and management.
Top Reason you chose your Franchise: The Interstate Batteries Brand Name. The compelling promise of having every battery for every need was attractive to us. With today’s rapidly evolving technology powered by batteries, it made sense!
Best part of being your own boss? We enjoy being able to solve customer’s problems on the spot without going to someone else to get an answer. This enables us to provide extreme customer service to our customer base without having to get someone’s approval first.
Worst part of being your own boss? Taking your position home with you. Batteries are always on my mind, whether it is driving down the road and spotting commercial trucks or sitting at a restaurant and looking at the pagers they use. Batteries are everywhere, and we love it!
Craziest/most interesting thing that has happened to you as a franchise owner? Winning Store of the Year in 2007 at this year’s annual convention and being a part of the development and design of our system’s new footprint, which we helped launch system wide last year!
Advice for prospective franchise buyers? Be able to build good-will with customers, manage employees, and be an Owner Operator. This business is about personally living the “Have It, Find It, Build It” philosophy and not turning it over to a work force to manage for you.
What was the total length of time from when you started researching franchises to when you purchased? 3 to 6 months.
