Numbers Don't Lie

At our most recent training, the new JumpBunch franchisees were asked right at the beginning what their favorite subject was in school. Regardless of what they answered, they were informed that by becoming a JumpBunch owner they had signed up for at least ten years of M.A.T.H. That is simply an acronym for what we have broken down as the four core areas franchisees must address each week and month to succeed. Those areas are marketing, administration, teaching, and hiring. Now, of course, those categories are specific to the nature of our business and not even really the point of this article. Instead, we want to focus on the literal version of “math”.

Most businesses have seasons that are more critical than others, and for JumpBunch owners it is the fall. We seem to work awfully hard these months while watching less than desired revenue show up on the royalty report. It is a time when you have trust in what you know, commit to what you do, and maintain a positive attitude about long term results rather than dwell on short term unpredictability. Franchisor guidance can come in really handy during these times, but over and over again it is the franchisees who understand and take control of their own attitudes that we witness the most consistent and impressive results. Now let’s quantify that by going back to the math…

A couple of math teachers with a combined 70 years experience came up with this interesting fact.

Numbers don’t lie. Your knowledge of your market and business will get you close. The hard work you go out and do will nudge you even closer. However, it is your attitude about everything that actually adds up to 100%. Keep that in mind when your day is good, bad, or even ugly. In the end, the right attitude is completely your choice and can even positively change the attitudes of those around you. I wish picking a good franchise would grant you immunity from the ups and downs of business ownership, but even the hardest working people in the world have days where nothing seems to fall into place. On those days, attitude is everything.
