A mother and her daughter, who will graduate in May from college, share ownership of a new Home Instead Senior Care franchise business, a partnership that seems tailor-made for these economic times. More college graduates are having a difficult time finding jobs, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Teaming with a family member has proven successful. According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, family-owned businesses account for 90 percent of all businesses in the U.S. (large and small) and continue to be a powerful force. And senior care franchising is one way to help new graduates get their careers off the ground.

Veterans Report 2011

by Franchise Business Review

A growing number of franchise brands offer special incentives to new franchisees with military experience. Although many organizations have set out to look at the “best” franchise opportunities for veterans, until now, none of these listings included data on actual veteran franchisee satisfaction and performance—perhaps the most telling data of all. Franchise Business Review’s Veterans and Franchising 2011 is the first report to look at which franchise opportunities are most veteran-friendly based on franchisee satisfaction.

To compile the data for this report, we surveyed nearly 2,000 military-trained franchisees, representing 178 brands and more than 60,000 franchise units. We also interviewed senior executives and franchisees at several brands for their first-hand perspective.

From this data, we identify our list of Top 100 Franchises for Veterans, which includes companies with above average satisfaction among the veteran franchisees we surveyed. We also narrowed that list down to recognize the top 10 franchise systems with the most veteran franchisees and above average satisfaction, as well as an overall top 10 ranking the franchise brands with the highest satisfaction among operators who are veterans.

To anyone considering Matco as a Franchise please research the Internet as well as read your UFOC and Matco Contract completely. If you are still thinking about it check with an attorney. I am warning you as a 3 year Vet in the Army and the 6 1/2 year owner of a Matco Franchise WALK AWAY. Matco gave me an unviable route to begin with and then when I went out and got more shops with my District Managers approval he got fired and within two months Matco was beating my door down and threatening me with the loss of my Franchise if I didn't surrender shops. Then I had to do it again because my new Regional Manager didn't think that was enough. By the time they got done raping my business I was left with a non-viable route that was not profitable. Then when the economy got bad in 2009 I was told Matco would resurvey my route and it never happened. Matco would end up creating a FALSE DOCUMENT which stated I was a bad Distributor and would ultimately lead to them stealing my Franchise back. They are currently being sued for SBA loan fraud and more litigation involving Labor Laws, False Ads, False Terminations, Fraud and Falsifying LEGAL Documents is soon to follow. On a scale of 1 to 10 I rate this Company a ZERO. Their SBA loan failure rate is 37% and does not reflect other types of loans. WALK AWAY!!!

To all our young vets, we salute you. Please do extensive research before stepping into ANY franchise, especially Matco Tools since chances are you will lose everything within a few years with them. Their failure rate is astounding...
